Tiffany Heng Hui Lee is a Taiwanese-American visual artist specializing in abstract, mixed-media objects, paper-based collages, sculpture, jewelry, and paintings. She brings over thirty years of experience as a corporate interior designer to her artistic practice. Using the knowledge of color, line, shape, texture, and material, Tiffany bridges the disciplines of interior design and art.

The art expresses movement and energy, reflecting the changing unstable characteristics of nature, as well as the fragmentation and uncertainty of life. Abstract creations allow the viewer to interpret each work based on their personal experiences and preferences. Layers mimic the order found in nature that must be present for balance and harmony to exist. Layering materials provides depth to each object. Tiffany’s architectural background allows her to use repetitive lines to create abstract compositions. Use of intimate detail enhances the work by luring the viewer ever closer to discover things not visible from afar.

Tiffany’s paper collages have been selected for numerous juried exhibitions. Most recently, Tiffany was honored by Houston Endowment with the Jones Artist Award. Her work was selected by Alison de Lima Greene, the Isabel Brown Curator of Modern Contemporary Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas, for the Visual Arts Alliance Exhibition Other Stories About Who We Are. She has exhibited in the Art Museum TX, the Dougherty Arts Center in Austin, Texas, the Jung Center Houston, Texas, Lee College in Baytown, Texas, Women Made Gallery in Chicago, Illinois, curated by Kathryn Markel, and Galerie Biesenback-Cologne in Cologne, Germany.

EXHIBITION

FIVE ELEMENTS: HOLDING THE WORLD TOGETHER

HEIDI VAUGHAN FINE ART is proud to present FIVE ELEMENTS: HOLDING THE WORLD TOGETHER, an exhibition of paintings, mixed-media paper collages, and sculptures created using colors, shapes, and materials that symbolize the five essential Chinese elements, Wu Xing, found in nature: water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. The exhibition will be installed before Labor Day weekend and officially opens with a reception with the artist on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 3510 Lake Street at Colquitt in the Upper Kirby Galleries in Houston's Oldest Gallery Row. Doors open at 11 am on September 12. The reception with Lee will take place that evening from 5 to 8. An artist conversation moderated by Bao-Long Chu, Program Director, Arts & Culture, Greenspaces at Houston Endowment, will take place at 1 on Saturday, September 19. A special workshop on the Chinese Five Elements will take place at 1 on Saturday, October 10. All events are free and open to the public.

The fragile ecosystem of our planet is in a delicate state. Everything happening in the world now sets an imprint on our future. Our relationship with the elements is complex. A perfect balance sustains life and is a source of beauty and wonder. Each element interrelates with the other, providing a complimentary, interrelated, and interdependent relationship in the universe. Lee's goal in Five Elements: Holding the World Together is to transform these symbolic elements using shapes, colors, and textures, painted, layered, and folded, to create compositions that express this ideal in nature and life.

This is Lee's second solo show at Heidi Vaughan Fine Art. Since then she has had three museum solo exhibitions, including at the Nave Museum in Victoria, Texas, the Beeville Art Museum in Beeville, Texas, and the Bosque Gallery in Cypress, Texas. In 2024 she was honored by Houston Endowment with the Jones Artist Award. Her work has been selected for numerous juried exhibitions including by Alison de Lima Greene, the Isabel Brown Curator of Modern Contemporary Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas, for the Visual Arts Alliance Exhibition Other Stories About Who We Are.  Her work was included in an international exhibition at the CICA Museum in Korea. She has exhibited in the Asian American Resource Center in Austin, Texas, Art Museum TX, Houston, Texas, the Dougherty Arts Center in Austin, Texas, the Jung Center Houston, Texas, Lee College in Baytown, Texas, Women Made Gallery in Chicago, Illinois, curated by Kathryn Markel, The Health Museum, Houston, Texas, and Galerie Biesenback-Cologne in Cologne, Germany, among many others. Recent residencies include the Children's Museum Houston and Asia Society Texas Center in Houston, Texas.

The works of art in Immersed reflect Heng-Hui Lee's understanding of the relationship between the earth's elements and the balance of nature within the universe. Most artworks in the exhibition are mixed media collages that reference specific locations around the world which can be recognized by their colors. Heng-Hui Lee evokes moods through works that especially express feelings of peace and happiness.
