The Houston Hour is an hour-long radio show all about Houston that airs every Friday at 8 pm on 90.1 KPFT Houston, a listener-sponsored Pacifica radio station. The producer is TV’s Houston Historian, Mister McKinney, and the Co-Hosts are Mister McKinney and Heidi Vaughan, owner of Heidi Vaughan Fine Art. Every episode features two guests, each interviewed for about 30 minutes. The first guest is a creative, arts-related guest, and the second is a Houston history guest, often a Houston legend. The Houston Hour first hit the KPFT airwaves in 2018. Since then, hundreds of Houstonians have been interviewed on the show.

Past guests include Mayor Sylvester Turner, Lynn Wyatt, Lester Marks, David Adickes, David Brown, DJ Sun, Jereann Chaney, Phoebe Tudor, Emanuelee Outspoken Bean, Robert Sakowitz, Bill Baldwin, George Lancaster, Delita Martin, Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale, Chris Hill, Dr. Joe Colaco, John Abodeely, Craig Massey, Dixie Friend Gay, Libby Masterson, Mariquita Masterson, Steve Matijcio, Bryn Larsen, Hesse McGraw, Judy Nyquist, Karen Farber, Robin Kesselman, Ben Kousch, GONZO247, Judge Ed Emmett, Catherine Anspon, plus other Houston architects, curators, chefs, fashion designers, writers, preservationists, developers, musicians, artists, and many, many more. The most recent past episodes are available in the KPFT archives.

Mister McKinney is a Houston Historian whose mission is ensuring Houston’s future doesn’t forget its past. His yellow, open-top Houston History Bus enables him to traverse the city to teach people from all walks of life about the history of Houston. He offers more than 100 different tours of historic neighborhoods and significant places around Houston. Mister McKinney’s Titans & Tycoons and Women History tours are among crowd favorites.
